Ethiopian Troops Arrive in Somali Region-Witnesses

Jowhar,(insidesomalia.org)- Heavily armed Ethiopian troops have left in Middle Shabelle region south of Somalia later on Saturday-residents said.

The soldiers with more ten armed vehicles have taken siesta time in area of Abshir,Ali Gure north of Jowhar town the provincial capital of middle Shabelle region and set up bases near Jowhar.

The soldiers were reported to have left from Somali capital Mogadishu.

The residents inhabit the areas surrounding the new bases of the Ethiopian troops have expressed concern on the arrival of the Ethiopian soldiers fearing that the anti-Gov and Ethiopian troops in Somalia groups to attack the Ethiopian and them to sustain causalities in those attacks there.

Some eyewitnesses said that prior to the Ethiopian troops arrive there they could see Islamic courts fighters with armed vehicles were driving in some parts of the region.

Its yet unknown whether the Ethiopian troops will continue to remain in the town or will head to another regions.

In a favored tactic of recent months, Islamist fighters occupied the central Somali town of Jowhar, just 90 km (56 miles) north of Mogadishu several times from the government troops.
